The Fourth of July makes me want a hot dog real bad. From neighborhood grill outs to baseball game brats, summer really is the season of the hot dog.

Skins Hotdogs, Multiple locations - Since 1946, Skins has been the Upstate’s go-to for a dog, stepping into Greenville in 2000.

Pro tip: Try your dog with the secret recipe chili + a side of homemade coleslaw.
Palmetto Fine Foods, 1209 Laurens Rd. -
This joint opened in 1959 serving “chilidogs” + has expanded its offerings (think: salads and Greek specialties like gyros) while keeping the staples.

Resident Dogs, Food truck - Known as the “Hot Dog Queen of Greenville,” Meredith’s funky toppings on tasty dogs bring a twist to an American classic.

Rambos Hotdogs, Food cart -
Established in 2019, you'll find this hot dog cart around town slingin’ Nathan’s all-beef franks.

F-Mart, 4268 Geer Hwy., Marietta - A fan describes the hotdogs at the F-Mart as “out of this world.”

Pro tip: If hot dogs aren’t your thing, another fan called the cheeseburger the “best in the Upstate.”
Bonus: Costco, 1021 Woodruff Rd. - While it may not be a local spot, several of you wrote in about the $1.50 Costco hot dog combo, available on Woodruff Road.

$10 million. That’s how much the South Carolina legislature allotted to the Greenville County School Board with the adoption of a school funding bill. As a result, teacher base salaries will increase to $45,075 per year + include a $2,500 raise and step increase for current GCS teachers. (Greenville Journal)

Upstate SC Alliance, an economic development agency, is moving its headquarters to Clemson’s ICAR campus (3 Research Dr., Ste. 203). The group says the 5,000-sqft space is a “great, central location” to welcome business leaders who are touring the Upstate. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
Outdoors -
Greenville-based landscape architect Holly Owings is leading plans for SC’s first state park in ~20 years. She’s helping develop a 70-mile-long network of public and private parks along the Black River in Georgetown + Williamsburg Counties. Holly says protecting the land is crucial to flood mitigation in that part of the state. (Greenville Journal)

Greenvillians took advantage of early Independence Day celebrations, on the Third of July, at Fluor Field at the West End.
Before the Greenville Drive took the field, fans looked to the sky for the Special Forces Parachute Jump Team honoring local military members and veterans. And, of course, the night ended with a firework show.
