Juneteenth is this weekend, Sun., June 19, commemorating the day slavery was abolished in the US, nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
This week marks one year since Juneteenth was officially announced as a federal holiday — the first national holiday to be signed into law since MLK Day in 1983. There are several events taking place to celebrate + commemorate the holiday that you won’t want to miss.

“Living life in community with others isn’t just good for the soul, it’s essential.”
Those were the words Matthew Hubbard, co-owner + co-founder of the new Group Therapy Pub & Playground, shared with the crowd tapped to test the games, food, and drinks at his new Greenville establishment.
While the atmosphere is wacky, nostalgic, over-the-top, picture-perfect + beyond fun, the story behind the space is unique and, in our opinion, pretty special.
Group Therapy was born after Matthew went to therapy to address his own mental health. He wanted to create a place where people could come build community, and know they aren’t alone.
We think this is just the spot for that, so grab your friends + make a reservation (or two or three or four.)

Editor's pick: As an avid golfer, I often prefer to hit the real course, but sometimes a round of putt-putt can be much more relaxing + therapeutic (plus, it's a fun way to get your non-golfing friends involved).
When you play the 18 holes of mini-golf at Group Therapy, have your movie and television trivia ready. Each hole will wow you with the attention to detail as you tee-off into the Iron Throne + make a putt next to the Titanic, looking to avoid hitting the iceberg. Without giving away too many spoilers, I've heard some of the top favorites include the “Throne of Lies” from “Elf” and the “Harry Potter”-themed hole.
