It’s no secret that college is expensive, so many university and tech school students turn to scholarships to help pay their way. Over 1.7 million scholarships are awarded annually, but only 7% of college students will receive one. Greenville Federal Credit Union is helping out on a local level, recently awarding six scholarships to Greenville County graduating seniors to help fund their first year of college or technical school. Greenville Federal Credit Union awarded scholarships to the following 2022 graduates: - One $5,000 scholarship to Aiden Lockhart of Blue Ridge High School
- Five $1,000 scholarships to Kaitlyn Williams, Sarah Dixon, Ana Leon-Penayo, Olivia Spencer, and Shiloh Egan (more on them in a moment)

About Greenville Federal Credit Union’s scholarships To qualify for a scholarship, applicants had to: - Be enrolled in the Greenville County Schools system

Possess a 3.0 GPA or above on a 4-point (non-weighted) scale
- Be a Greenville Federal Credit Union member in good standing

Be a high school senior accepted on a full-time basis at a college or technical school for the upcoming year

The Environmental Protection Agency identified a list of cleanup requirements for the Union Bleachery + Cone Mills site before it can be redeveloped into On the Trail, a multi-billion dollar, multi-use development. The list, known as a Record of Decision, is under review and to be finalized in June. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

County Square, a $1 billion redevelopment project near downtown Greenville, is on track to be finished by the end of the year. The project will house county administration facilities by summer 2023 and the retail, hospitality + commercial spaces are expected to open to the public in fall of 2024. (Upstate Business Journal)

The City of Greenville wants to make Stone Avenue safer for drivers and pedestrians. Leaders are considering improving the lighting, lowering the speed limit, adding speed-limit radar signs + installing a $300,000 pedestrian-hybrid beacon signal. Grace Church purchased the Campus Pointe Apartments at Greenville Technical College for $16 million to expand its housing ministry, Front Porch Housing. One of the four buildings will remain available to students for another year. The other three will provide 87 apartments for affordable housing. (Greenville Journal)

1,300. That’s the pawsome number of dogs that attended the 10th Annual Mutt Strut last month. Nearly 2,000 humans, along with their furry friends, helped raise $70,000 for animals at the Greenville Humane Society. 🐾
