Hello Saturday.
April 20 2024
Here’s some news that you might like a latte. ☕️
A new Starbucks is coming soon to Camperdown Plaza to join neighbors Insomnia Cookies and CAMP, and soon-to-be neighbor, Jeni’s Ice Cream. The new Starbucks will occupy a 1,300-sqft space in the plaza — we don’t yet have an opening date, so stay tuned.
Wait, didn’t you just tell us about a new coffee shop?
Don’t worry, you don’t have deja brew, another new locally-owned coffee shop is coming to Pendleton Street: Bridge City Coffee’s second location. The new Bridge City Coffee will sit at 515 Pendleton St., taking over the site of an old gas station, and will have a drive-thru.
Greenville is about to be a lot more caffeinated. Happy coffee-drinking.

- Carolina Gold Rice was once a staple in South Carolina + is one of the oldest rice varieties in the US. This, along with other SC “heritage products” such as Purple Straw Wheat and Jimmy Red Corn almost became extinct as more durable and easily transportable varieties became popular. The rice is now seeing a revival through Anson Mills’ efforts to use the rice for products that are more easily shipped, like beer. (Greenville News)

- In yesterday’s newsletter, we stated that it was the first day of Yom Kippur — that was incorrect. Yom Kippur is 1 holy day that began at sunset yesterday, Sept. 15 and ends at sundown tonight. The candle that is lit is called a Yahrzeit candle, not a shabbat candle.
