18 months. That’s how long the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum has been closed.
The Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum and Baseball Library shut its doors near the end of 2019 for renovations and — here comes the good news for baseball fans and lovers of local history — is now aiming to reopen by the end of this month. (New to Greenville or wondering who Shoeless Joe is? Here’s his story.)

ICYMI + to get you excited for the museum’s reopening, here’s what will be different about the space:
🏠 The location. Well, kind of. The museum was moved ~100 yards down the road closer to the corner of Markley + Field streets (still across from Fluor Field) to make room for the new Woodfield development, .408 Jackson.
⏰ The hours of operation. Previously, the museum was only open on Saturdays, but it will now be open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., plus before and after each Greenville Drive home game.
🚧 A new roof, a new HVAC system, and a new ~800-sqft annex for extra museum space + a gift shop.
The team at the museum has been hard at work preparing the building for the reopening and have been frequently posting updates on Facebook. They’re also looking for volunteers, so if you love baseball and museums, send them an email with the subject line “Volunteer.”
But one thing isn’t changing — the museum’s love of all things Shoeless Joe.
