The Wade Hampton HS grad is named on Forbes' '30 Under 30' list

A man with ties to Greenville is named on Forbes' annual "30 Under 30" list. Vernon Coleman made the Forbes list in the social media category. Coleman, 24, was homeschooled and also graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 2015. He is the CEO and Founder of the app Realtime. "Realtime is a way for you to meet people in person in 10 minutes or less through experiences. So if you want to host a gathering, a dinner party, or go to the movies, you can do all of that with a button," Coleman said. He said he wanted to create a tool that was about real-world interactions. "To really allow people to form meaningful connections and feel that sense of community and presence, which is what I think life is all about," Coleman said. The Forbes article reports that the co-founder of Reddit and others have put $4 million into Realtime. Coleman said he is honored to make the Forbes list and said his time in Greenville helped to prepare him for this career. "Most of the time when I was in Greenville I was home-schooled, and that really forced me to learn how to build community, whether it be at church or through sports or just through talking to people in the supermarket. I feel like Greenville really allowed me to grow as an artist and a creative and learn different viewpoints and ways of interacting and thinking outside of the box," Coleman said. Coleman said the Realtime app will soon be available in the Apple App Store. He said right now, people can access it through the website www.userealtime.com.
